ABOUT US
I’m a retired Navy veteran with 20 years of experience teaching firearms safety and fundamentals. I currently hold multiple NRA instructor certifications. Over the years, I’ve helped hundreds of students build a safe, confident foundation—from first-time shooters to experienced gun owners who want a solid refresher.
For a lot of people, firearms carry an intimidating mystique—shaped by the news, movies, or simply not knowing where to start. My aim is to replace fear with skill through patient, disciplined instruction that helps you handle a firearm safely, think clearly, and make responsible decisions.
If you’re a first-time shooter, you’re in the right place. If you’re an experienced shooter looking to tighten your fundamentals, I’d love to work with you. And if you’re military or a seasoned shooter who wants a refresher for a carry-permit course or qualification (where applicable), I’m glad to come alongside you in the process.
Firearms can also be a rewarding hobby—and a great way to connect with others—through recreational shooting, advanced skill development, and competition for those who enjoy the challenge of continual improvement.
The name Disciplined Response reflects calm, measured judgment: knowing your abilities and limitations, controlling emotions under stress, prioritizing avoidance and de-escalation, and acting lawfully only as a last resort.
If you’re ready to learn in a safe, supportive environment, I’d be honored to help you take the next step.
What is Disciplined Response?
A disciplined response stresses:
-
Safety-first, every time
-
Competence built through repetition, not ego
-
A commitment to lawful, last-resort thinking
-
A posture of humility—because carrying a tool capable of harm demands maturity
-
A calm, measured, and grounded posture especially under stress.
WHY Training Matters...
Firearms are present everywhere in our communities. Training is one of the clearest ways to reduce preventable risk and raise the standard of responsibility. When gun owners pursue consistent instruction and refreshers, communities benefit through:
-
fewer careless errors and unsafe habits
-
more predictable decision-making
-
stronger respect for boundaries, environments, and bystanders
-
a culture where responsibility is normal—not optional
Our Conviction:
We’re values-driven and faith-inspired. Our Christian faith shapes how we view power and responsibility:
-
Life is precious (Genesis 1:27) — we train with a deep respect for the image of God in every person.
-
Strength must be governed by love (Mark 12:31) — the goal is never dominance, but service to others and protection of the vulnerable.
-
Wisdom shows up as restraint (Proverbs 4:7) — the most responsible decision is often avoidance, de-escalation, and leaving safely.
-
Integrity matters in public trust (Micah 6:8) — we practice what is lawful, clear and accountable.
We believe every life is sacred—and that our neighbors deserve a community marked by peace, responsibility, and care. For those who choose to own or carry a firearm, the question isn’t simply can I? but how should I?
Disciplined Response exists to help responsible citizens pursue competence with humility, confidence with restraint, and preparedness without fear.
Our Promise:
We will never glorify violence and will not train to feed ego. We will always prioritize safety, integrity, and the wellbeing of our students and the community in everything we do. Our focus is safe, lawful, responsible firearm handling-built on disciplined fundamentals and clear decision-making.
If you’re pursuing your CHP qualification or a solid refresher, we’d be honored to help you take the next faithful step: responsibility that serves your neighbors.
